After a two-month delay, audit “reviews” from 2015 and 2016 were finally approved by a full board during the Shackelford County Hospital District’s directors meeting held Nov. 19.

The reviews, which are abbreviated versions of a full audit, were first presented by Condley and Company, LLP at the September meeting. That session was cut short because one director had to leave because of a family illness.

Then the October meeting was cancelled due to lack of a quorum.

No audits have been performed for the past three years, and the board hired a new auditor about a year ago after obtaining all the 2015 and 2016 financial records from the previous firm.

Condley is currently working on a full audit for 2017, said board president John Ayers.

The directors also approved Condley and Company as the 2018 auditor.

The 2015 and 2016 reviews will be published in next week’s paper.

Employee Raises

Across-the-board cost of living raises for district, clinic, and pharmacy employees were approved after separate closed sessions for both the hospital district and clinic that included employee evaluations.

Ayers said that the raises, which become effective in January, are less than what was included in the 2019 budget.

Also approved were Christmas bonuses for all employees.

District CDs

After a lengthy discussion that has spanned several months, the directors decided to leave the district’s CDs with First National Bank for now, but opted to split the funds into a $500,000 CD for 12 months and a $300,000 CD for a six-month term.

The board also plans to appoint a three-member finance committee at the December meeting.
