Clothes closet, sale on Moran calendar

Several events during the next couple of weeks can help Moran residents get organized for fall and the start of a new school year.

Meet the Bulldogs/Open House

The first community-wide event of the new school year takes place tonight, Aug. 22, at 5:00 p.m. at the local school campus.

The 2019-2020 football, volleyball, and cross country teams will be introduced to everyone who comes to Meet the Bulldogs.

Open House and Meet the Teacher will follow at 5:30 p.m.

Ice cream will be served, according to school superintendent Danny Freeman.

Closet Angels

Moran’s Closet Angels will be open this Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon for back to school shopping.

“We will have free snow cones and cookies for all who come to shop,” said organizer Samantha George. “We strive to serve anyone in need or those who wish to save money.”

The clothing ministry of the Moran First Baptist Church is regularly open on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

School Starts

Students at MISD will begin the school year at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.

Moran Garage Sale

The annual Moran city-wide garage sale is set for Saturday, Sept. 7 starting at 8:00 a.m., and according to organizer Michelle Taggart, at least nine sales will be taking place in town that day. 

Garage sale locations should be turned in to Taggart by Friday, Sept. 6.

“This will give me time to get maps and lists printed,” she said. “If you are interested in getting on the list, please let me know. There is no cost to join.”
