Chest board to choose officers, elect directors
By Kathy Thomson
Board members of the Albany Chest will meet to organize the 2019 fundraising drive, nominate and elect new directors, and choose officers for the coming year during a 5:15 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at The Feed Store.
According to board chair Amy Kelly, four of the current directors will be completing their current term, and positions held by Donnie Lucas, Cllnt Chapman, Austin Sherwood, and Keri Hebel will be up for election this year.
According to the Chest by-laws, directors can serve up to two terms before they cycle off, and Chapman and Sherwood are both eligible for a second term. However, Lucas and Hebel will both cycle off of the board.
Those interested in serving on the board should contact secretary Tisha Wilkins or Kelly to have their names submitted for consideration.
Current Chest officers are president Amy Kelly, vice chair and public relations Donnie Lucas, secretary Tisha Wilkins, and parliamentarian Susie Beard. Paige Adair serves as treasurer, which is an appointed position.
Mindy Skelton, Sara Wilson, Robert Dacus, Lacey Anderson, Susan Montgomery, Clint Chapman, Austin Sherwood, and Keri Hebel complete the board.
Donations
The board hopes to mail letters to previous Chest donors and new prospects by the end of September to kick off the 2019 campaign.
Donations to the Chest may be mailed to Albany Chest, PO Box 2019, Albany TX 76430 or given to Paige Adair at First National Bank, Keri Hebel at First Financial Bank, or Donnie Lucas at The Albany News.
Last year, Chest contributions exceeded a record-breaking goal of $42,000, with 20 organizations benefitting from the generosity of donors.
