Musical features ‘Our Songs’

The Aztec Theater was filled with music Saturday night as a group of local singers took the stage for “Our Songs,” a performance showcasing a wide range of musical favorites. Songs from artists such as Journey, PurePrairieLeague,John Denver, Stevie Nicks, The Turtles, Aretha Franklin, and Al Green filled the air, highlightingthetalentsof 15localsingersbackedbya skilled band of musicians.

Harvest Acres funds missions

Friendship Baptist Church completed its annual HarvestAcresBazaar last Saturday, and according to organizer Danita Johnston, the volunteers had a great day, selling lots of baked goods and other items.
A table full of goodies and silent auction items help raise funding to assist with local missions. The event was held last Saturday.

Beard tops Turkey Teacher race

Christmas benefit Longtime ag teacher Chris Beard took a commanding lead on the final day of the fourth annual “Turkey Teacher” fundraiser last week, earning the right to dress up in a turkey costume on Friday prior to students being dismissed for the Thanksgiving holidays. A total of $308 in donations was raised through the event, benefiting local children and the elderly in need, according to FCCLA sponsorJenniferMarshall.
