From her birth, Mary Catherine Tidwell was beautiful and spirited. Born to Don and Margie Tidwell on Sept. 19, 1989 in Abilene, Texas, she arrived with the spirit that would mark all her days. Demandinganemergency C-section to bring her into the light, she let it be known that she would always be a force to be reckoned with. Blessed with two adoring older brothers,SamandJoe,she gave notice that she was the queen of her world and wouldn’t take any of their nonsense and learned as she grew just how to work those big boys and their friends.

Beard wins 2nd in record book contest

ShackelfordCounty4-H member Madailein Beard placed second in the Senior Horse Division of the District 7 record book contest. Judging was conducted earlier this month in San Angelo with results announced last week.

FFA members receive Lone Star degree

Albany FFA had to dodge Hurricane Beryl, but the chapter brought home numerous awards from the 96th Texas FFA State Convention. The convention was held Monday-Friday, July 8-12 in Houston.

Both teams of local FCCLA students who advanced to the National Leadership Conference in Seattle placed in the top 10 in the nation and made it to the stage for the awards program in separate events.
