ush Just a few days before Christmas, more than $11,000 was still needed to reach the Albany Community Chest’s 2023 goal of $45,000. Then, with last-minute and year-end giving, the campaign surged, and a report earlier this weekshowedthatcontributions had moved well over the 100 percent mark.

Bridge could reopen this month

The mile-long bridge on US Highway 180 over Hubbard Creek Reservoir has been closed to traffic since Dec. 22 following an emergency inspection prompted by debris being observed falling from underneath the west end.
A sign near Allsup’s in Albany warns travelers that Hwy. 180 is closed 15 miles down the road due to the emergency closure of the “mile-long bridge” over Lake Hubbard.
