The junior high Cubs and Lady Cubs returned to action last week after the Christmas break, with three of the four teams winning their bouts against Abilene Chistian School.

All four local teams were supposed to be in action on Monday vs. Cisco, but the games were cancelled due weather conditions and will not be rescheduled, according to athletic director Ryder Peacock.

The junior high will be back on the court next Monday, Jan. 18 with the boys playing in Hawley and the girls hosting Hawley. Games at both sites will start at 5:30 p.m.

Girls Games

The Albany girls Red team defeated Abilene Christian in Abilene, 27-22. The win improved the team’s record to 4-2.

“The Red team did a great job of implementing what we worked on in practice,” coach Jamie Wilson said. “We did a lot of fast breaks to get up and down the floor more quickly. Julia Vega and Makenna McNeill did a great job getting the offensive and defensive rebounds, which led to a lot of baskets for us.”
