Track season ends at district

The Moran track team wrapped up its season Monday,April8,atthearea meet between District 131A and 14-1A at May.

The boys 400 relay of Danny O’Keefe, Garrett Hamilton, Ellis Hise, and Ethan Boykin was Moran’s only entry at the meet. The quartet clocked a seasonbest time of 49.4 seconds to finish eighth.

“The guys didn’t advance, but they pulled out their fastest time,” coach John Hughes said. “I’m proud of all the kids who ran track, and I’m looking forward to next year.”

Elementary Track

Moran’selementarystudents finished their season Saturday,April6atZephyr.

“The little ones finished up their track season over the weekend and did well,” Hughes said. “We had one kid medal in his events and others placed as well.”

RyderYork won the shot put and placed third in the discus. Legend Sebree was fifth in the boys discus, and Zaylee Smith was sixth in the girls shot put.

The fifth-sixth grade girls 400 relay (Kamilia Alexander, Demi Sebree, AlexisWhitehill,andRomie Hinshaw) finished fifth.

Inthethird-fourthgrade division, Gabe Carroll, Zayden Alexander, Michael Courtney, and Jessie Letney made up the boys sprintrelay.Smith,Nevaeh Letney,andOlenaHinshaw ran the girls sprint relay.

Tennis

Moran’s boys doubles and mixed doubles teams will compete Thursday, April 18 at the Santa Anna tournament,tobeplayedin Early and Brownwood.

The District 13-1A tournament will be held Monday, April22atBrownwood.
