Plans change for Little League trip

Albany Little League began its season Monday, March 18 with the Reds beating the Oilers 10-0 in the first Majors game.

“It started off great,” organizer Paul Hamilton said. “The weather was wonderful. We had good attendance, and the concession stand was hopping.”

The Indians and Eagles played Tuesday, March 19 with the Eagles winning 9-5. The Reds and Oilers play again Thursday, March21 (tonight) tofinish up the first week. Minor games start at 5:30 p.m. with Majors playing at 7:00 p.m.

Hamilton said the first two weeks of the season are being played on the Intermediate field as the new sod on the Little League field is allowed to take hold.

“We’re going to give our new grass field a couple of weeks before we get on it,” he said.

The first two weeks will also not have Friday games.

“The softball girls have this Friday (March 11) on that field, and the following week (March 29) is Good Friday,” Hamilton said. “We’re not going to schedule games on Good Friday.”

Change Of Plans

The scheduled trip to watch Texas Tech and Abilene Christian play on Tuesday, April 9 has been postponed a week because of TAAKS testing, Hamilton said.

Little Leaguers will now att end the ACU-TCU game on Tuesday, April 16.
