Library WiFi use discussed

Shackelford County commissioners addressed an ongoing problem of unwanted individuals logging into the county library’s WiFi after hours and also decided on Courthouse directories on the first floor during a regular session on Monday morning,April 22.

They also considered some options for the Courthouse lawn and gazebo repairs.

Library Internet

AlbanycitymayorSusan Montgomery asked commissioners if further steps could be taken to limit late hours use of the county library’s WiFi, primarily because it is a nuisance for neighboring residents.

The county has already placed signs in the parking lot prohibiting vehicles from parking there after a certain time, but there are several individuals who sit in front of the building, and have been known to verbally challenge those who approach them, according to Montgomery.

County judge John Viertel said that the router could be set to turn off the WiFi at a certain time, and Montgomerysaidtherewas avolunteerwhowaswilling to take care of that.

The commissioners agreed that the library committee has the authority to do that without any county action.

The commissioners had approved visualdirectories in a previous meeeting, but okayed their purchase for $750 or less.
