More than 200 voters cast ballots during early voting in theAlbany Independent School District trustee election, and others will have the chance to vote on the regular election day this Saturday. May 4.

Early voting ended at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a total of 228 ballots.

The AISD election will decide between incumbent Bo Brown and challenger Reggy Spencer for the Place 3 seat.

Kalico Leech is unopposed for the Place 4 seat.

Saturday’s voting opportunity will begin bright and early at 7:00 a.m. and end 12 hours later at 7:00 p.m., with the poll location remaining at theAlbany ISD administration building just south of the band hall, next to the tennis courts, on the secondary campus.

Early voting clerk Lynsi Musselman said that in addition to the in-person votes, 25 mail ballots had been sent out, with all but nine of those returned by press time on Tuesday.

Those who are voting by mail have the rest of this week to return their ballots, with a postmark of May 4 required in order for the ballot to be counted.

Musselman is being assisted by veteran election workers AnnKingandDeeBalliew,who are conducting the early voting and election.

The other five countyentities cancelledtheirelectionsbecause there were no opposed races.
