Rehearsals for the four summer performances of the Fort Griffin Fandangle will start on Monday, May 13 with a new practice schedule that should be easier on performers this season.

According to Fandangle artistic director Lorna Ayers, the rehearsals will be different this year than in the past.

“Overall there will be fewer rehearsals, and we are starting earlier and ending earlier to try to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules and those cast members with young children in the show,” Ayers said. “I encourage everyone to go to the Fandangle website and look at the rehearsal schedule. It is very different from the past.”

The cast page can be found at the bottom of the home page of the new website at www.fortgriffinfandangle.com. Cast information can be found at the bottom by clicking the Cast link which is printed in green.

Ayers also emphasized the importance of registering all children planning to be in the summer show.

We Need Parents To Sign up all kids from pre-school through high school with the form on the website,” Ayers said. “This really needs to be done before they come to rehearsals.”

Cast members are also asked to join this year’s new Remind app to receive the most recent notifications about rehearsals.

Ayers explained that the Fandangle had to set up a new account this year, which means everyone must sign up again to get the text reminders about rehearsals or any changes to the schedule.

Anyone wanting to join Remind in order to receive information and reminders about rehearsals can text 81010 with the message @fandang included. If successfully sent, the new member will receive a confirmation text.

The practice schedule has adult performers divided into two groups based on which large production numbers cast members are participating in. Also, there are additional small group rehearsals for scenes that do not require a larger number of cast members.

For the month of May, rehearsals are being held only on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The three-day per week schedule continues during the first week of June before expanding to add Wednesday practice the two weeks prior to the show.

Show dates are set for June 21-22 and June 28-29.
