Egg hunt set this Saturday

The chance to hunt for eggs by the basketful should make for a fun Saturday for local children.

With a new early afternoon time, members of the Albany VolunteerFireDepartmentwill host their annual Easter egg hunt at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 at Webb City Park.

The egg hunt is open to all local children and their guests.

This will be the 22nd year for the community egg hunt.

AVFDofficerCyrenaWooster explained that the department decided on the 1:00 p.m. this year for a couple of reasons.

“With an 11:00 a.m. start like last year, the volunteers have to meet earlier to get the eggs out,” she said. “Also, since Easter is in March, we didn’t think that 1:00 p.m. would be hot like it is some years.”

Typically, the department has to work around other events, but there are no other downtown activities planned and the car show is still a couple of weeks away.

The park will be sectioned off for each individual age group, and all children will need to meetatthepoolentrancebefore the hunt begins to find the correct section.

The groups are ages zero to three, ages four to six, ages seven to nine, and ages 10 and up.

Members of the VFD will spend a couple of hours getting ready for the hunt, with firefighters setting up the age group areas and hiding somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 eggs.

In addition to candy eggs, gold and silver coins are being provided as prizes courtesy of Clear Fork Bank.
