Appreciative audience hears music

The Aztec Theater was the vehicle and local musicians and singers provided all the power needed to take ticket holders on a nostalgic musical road trip last Saturday evening.

Road Trip: A Musical Journey featured selections from the 1930s through the 1980s that included lyrics about being on the road or included possible destinations for those scenic journeys of yesterday.

“We had a pretty good turn-out, especially considering that the holidays are right around the corner,” said organizer and emcee Pam Davis. “They were a wonderfully responsive and appreciative audience.”

Davis said that many of the audience members sang along with their favorite numbers.

“We could hear them singing from backstage, and that made us happy, as we knew that we had connected with them,” she said. “They also responded to some of the narration, especially the time I mentioned Stuckey’s.”

Davis said that the organizers are already working on another musical for next year.

“There is at least one in the works,” she said, “possibly two.”
