4-Hers compete in archery, create Easter food baskets

Shackel ford County4-H members took partinan archery contest as part of the shooting sports program Friday-Saturday, March 15-16 at Graham.

“We didn’t have any placings, but we were excited to havea group of kids go,” Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said.

The archery program is being led by Nick Rose.

Club members who competed were Dally Bezner, Ayers Bezner, Leia Rose, Parker Rose, Carly Kreitler, and Gannon Rankin.

Bell said the event will help participants prepare forthe4-HShootingSports Extravaganza, scheduled forSaturday-Sunday,April 20-21attheTexas4-HConference Center at Brownwood.

“We usually have kids go to that,” Bell said. “They have all different shooting sport sevents and a wildlife/ natural resource contest.”

Bell said participants can also compete at the state level.

“TheState4-HShooting Sports contest takes place in Callahan County,” she said. “I hope we’ll have kids do that as well.”

Meeting Project

On Monday, March 18, club members met to create Easter food baskets for local residents.

“Those will go out with the Vittles by Vehicle route either this week or next week,” Bell said.

The meeting served as the club’s April meeting because Easter falls in March this year.

The final club meeting of the year will be Sunday, May 5.

“We’ll have a meal and hold officer elections,” Bell said.

Upcoming Events

On Friday, March 22, the club will hold a photography clinic with Malarie Sutton teaching.

The District 7 Fashion Show is Tuesday, March 26 at Llano. Emmie Hise, Artie Bell, and Baigh Bell have projects entered.

On Wednesday, March 27, club members will tour ACU’s Rhoden Farm.
