Shackelford County 4-H elected officers for the 2024-25 year Sunday, May 5 at its final meeting of the 2023-24 year.

Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said she will meet with the new officers before the start of the next year.

“We’ll do something as we get closer to school starting and lay out our plans for next year,” Bell said. “It will be some time in August. We’ll see what projects we want to keep doing, what we want to change, and what we want to add.”

Elected to serve as senior officers were Madailein Beard, president; Grace Fry, vice president; Landon Kreitler, secretary, Riley Reames, treasurer; Connor Smith, reporter, and Carly Kreitler, parliamentarian.

Junior officers will be Rainy Nitschke, president; Ayers Bezner, vice president; Kerrigan Howard, secretary; Cody Fry, reporter, and Baigh Bell, parliamentarian.

At the same meeting, 4-Hers presented a Blessing Box to Closet Angels.

“This was Grace Fry’s service project for the year,” Kelsey Bell said. “One of our volunteers, Tiffany Sanderson, who helps with the garden at the school and various other projects, helped Grace get the box built. All the kids brought donations, and we got it filled up. Lori Reames said it was actually used that very same day.”

Archery Contest

Three club members competed in an archery contest Saturday, May 4 at Breckenridge. Bezner was second in the junior division, while Carly Kreitler third and Parker Rose was fourth in the intermediate division.

The archery program is led by Nick Rose.

“Nick said he’s going to try to find at least one contest a month for the archery kids to go to,” Bell said.

Summer Program Bellsaidplansareshaping up for a summer entrepreneurship program.

“We’re going to meet Thursday afternoons in June,” she said. “Heather Nitschke is heading that up. Several of our 4-H volunteers are going to help with that, and we’d love to have others.”
