Churches schedule Easter activities

The Albany Ministerial Alliance will once again sponsor the Sonrise Easter Service at Stasney’s Cook Ranch, coordinated by the Albany Methodist Church.

The program will begin at7:30a.m.Sunday,March 31 with Methodist Women providing breakfast. Methodist interim pastor Dan Houze will deliver the message.

“We’re going to have light snacks for breakfast with people gathering about7:30,”LanceThomas said. “We plan to get started a little before 8:00.”

The gathering will take place at the ranch head quarters’ cook shack.

Stasney’s Ranch is located west of Albany off Farm Road 1084.

“The entrance is five miles from the stoplight in town,” Thomas said. “Just goout Cook Field Road and turn right at the derrick, then follow the main road to the headquarters.”

Local congregations are also planning a number of events for Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

Trinity Lutheran

Trinity Lutheran Church will conduct its Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28. A Good Friday service is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 29.

A sunrise service will be held at 7:00 a.m. Easter Sunday at the Lutheran Cemetery. Breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. at the churches Fellowship Hall with Easter service at 10:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will follow.

Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church

Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church will observe Palm Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 24 with a procession from the Parish Hall to the church and Holy Mass.

At 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, Holy Thursday with a Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Breckenridge.

On Good Friday, Stations of the Cross will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 5:30 p.m.

At 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, Vigil of the Holy Night of Easter will be held in Breckenridge.

On Easter Sunday, Mass of the Easter Day will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Bethel Assembly

Bethel Assembly will hold its Easter service at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and an egg hunt.

All are welcome to stay and join in.

Friendship Baptist Friendship Baptist Church will hold Sunday school at 9:50 a.m. with the worship service starting at 10:55 a.m.

The Flowering of the Cross will be conducted during the service.

An Easter egg hunt will be held after the service.

MMPC

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church will conduct an Easter service at 11:00 a.m.

A children’s egg hunt will immediately follow the service.
